About This Position

Description:

Behavioral Specialist – Early Childhood Education Position Summary

The Behavioral Specialist supports young children, teachers, and school leadership by promoting positive behavior, social-

emotional development, and inclusive classroom practices. This role focuses on coaching teachers, observing classrooms,

supporting children with challenging behaviors, and partnering with families to ensure consistent, developmentally appropriate

behavior strategies across the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Observe children in classroom settings to identify behavioral strengths, needs, and triggers

• Develop and support individualized behavior strategies and classroom management plans

• Coach and model positive behavior supports, guidance techniques, and social emotional strategies for teachers

• Collaborate with Education Directors, teachers, and support staff to ensure consistency in behavior expectations

• Support implementation of developmentally appropriate practices aligned with licensing, TRS, and school philosophy

• Assist with documentation, behavior tracking, and follow-up plans as needed

• Partner with families to provide guidance, resources, and consistency between home and school

• Support crisis prevention and de-escalation using child-centered, trauma-informed approaches Qualifications

• Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Special Education, or related field preferred

• Experience working with young children (birth–5 or school-age) in a classroom or support role

• Strong knowledge of positive guidance, social-emotional development, and behavior support strategies

• Ability to coach adults with professionalism, empathy, and clarity

• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills Work Environment

• Works across classrooms and age groups within the school

• May split time between classroom support, observation, coaching, and meetings

• Physical ability to move through classrooms and interact with children at their level

Requirements:

Qualifications

• Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Special Education, or related field preferred

• Experience working with young children (birth–5 or school-age) in a classroom or support role
