About This Position

Team Lead (Timmins and Kirkland Lake)


The Canadian Mental Health Association – Cochrane Timiskaming Branch is currently recruiting a Temporary Full Time Team Lead for the following programs: Primary Care, RAAM, Seniors Mental Health/Behavioural Supports Ontario, Dual Diagnosis and the Kirkland Lake Recovery Centre. In keeping with the Mission, Vision, Values of the Canadian Mental Health Association – Cochrane Timiskaming Branch (CMHA-CT), the Team Lead is responsible for working with the Program Manager(s) to provide clinical and administrative guidance to the clinical staff within the multi-disciplinary team and for ensuring the team’s services are provided according to CMHA-CT standards, relevant professional regulatory standards, and current best practices.

Qualifications:

1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Registered Nurse or a Bachelor of Arts degree in one of the core mental health disciplines is preferred. Other levels of relevant education with experience in the mental health and addictions fields may be considered;

2. 3-5 years of clinical experience in the mental health and addiction field;

3. Registration with respective regulatory body: College of Nurses of Ontario required or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers is preferred;

4. Thorough knowledge of mental health and addictions;

5. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation related to the role, i.e. Residential Tenancy Act;

6. Experience working in the mental health and addictions fields;

7. Knowledge of the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Information system (DATIS) data entry, CRMS and Telus Health PS suite software is an asset;

8. Thorough knowledge of entry, assessment and treatment planning, treatment and principles and techniques as they relate to mental health and addictions;

9. Knowledge and understanding of the complex issues related to addictions, mental illness, poverty, and homelessness, as well as the impact of social/cultural/economic factors on the determinants of health;

10. Understanding of and ability to work within professional and ethical guidelines;

11. The ability to engage and work with a broad age group of clients with diverse and complex issues;

12. Knowledge of psychotropic medications, their benefits and effects, would be beneficial;

13. Demonstrated critical thinking skills including strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills;

14. Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and conflict resolution skills;

15. Proficiency in both French and English (oral and written) is preferred based on French Language Services designation requirements;

16. Ability to establish and manage priorities, meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced, often pressured, environment;

17. Strong organizational and time management skills;

18. Strong crisis and suicide intervention skills;

19. Valid driver’s license from the province of Ontario and use of a reliable vehicle for work purposes;

20. The ability to provide services according to a work schedule determined by the employer and according to the needs of the organization

21. Travel to all sites is required to provide in person supervision.
