This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping and optimizing credit risk strategies across a range of consumer lending products. You will play a central role in balancing growth and risk, ensuring lending decisions are both data-driven and aligned with portfolio performance objectives. Operating in a highly analytical and collaborative environment, you will partner closely with data science, product, and capital markets teams to influence underwriting strategies and business outcomes. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on analytical depth, requiring a strong ability to translate complex financial and behavioral data into actionable credit policies. You will also lead and mentor a team, driving continuous improvement in risk models, processes, and decision frameworks. This position is ideal for a senior credit risk expert who thrives in fast-paced, data-intensive environments and is motivated by building scalable, responsible lending systems.
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and optimization of credit risk strategies across consumer lending products
- Define and manage underwriting frameworks including pre-screening, risk tiering, loan assignment, and verification strategies
- Analyze portfolio performance, customer data, and external credit attributes to drive risk-adjusted returns
- Partner with Data Science teams to develop and enhance machine learning-based credit risk models
- Establish and monitor key risk and performance metrics, ensuring alignment with portfolio goals and risk appetite
- Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to continuously improve credit performance and decisioning systems
- Collaborate with Product, Analytics, Capital Markets, and Finance teams to align business and risk strategies
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of risk professionals while supporting hiring and talent development
- Present insights, recommendations, and performance analysis to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Master’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in credit risk or consumer lending risk management roles
- Strong expertise in developing data-driven credit strategies and underwriting frameworks
- Deep understanding of modeling techniques including logistic regression, decision trees, and gradient boosting methods
- Proven experience working with large-scale financial datasets, bureau data, and alternative data sources
- Strong background in credit scoring, portfolio management, loss forecasting, and P&L analysis
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and Excel
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Looker
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
