What are the typical hours on the job?
The hours of operation for the Call Center team are Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.Your primary schedule will be during those hours, with periodic need to work outside your schedule to serve our patients.
What does a Primary Care Patient Scheduler do?
Under the direction of management, the Primary Care Patient Scheduler is responsible for centrally coordinating out-patient physician office visits and assures accurate processing of appointments for NKC Health Medical Group Outpatient Clinics. Responsibilities include answering incoming phone calls in a timely manner, directing calls as needed and scheduling patient appointments using the EMR system while utilizing a high attention to detail.
What does a typical day on the job look like?
- Efficiently using a high attention to detail
- Handles the scheduling needs for patient appointments by answering incoming calls in a timely and courteous manner, returning patient calls for scheduling concerns, and assisting other schedulers in managing incoming calls
- Searching for patients using two patient identifiers to reduce errors and to avoid creating duplicate accounts
- Completes eligibility verification and registration process accurately and in a timely manner
- Collects patient payments or co-pays
- Ensures all demographic and insurance information is correctly entered into the system.
- Initiates new patient setups in EMR system and schedules interpreter appointments as necessary to assist patients during visit
- Informs the patient or patient representative of any required preparations or instructions prior to appointment as well as confirming the correct check in time and location
- Performs all other duties as assigned
What are the requirements for the job?
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum one year of experience, in a physician office setting preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills and phone etiquette
- Typing/keyboarding skills required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment
- Basic office skills, critical thinking, detail oriented
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred
