LEAD ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES Evenings
Reports to: Environmental Service Manager and COO
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible to assist with supervisory duties with and in the absence of the Environmental Service Manager. This position assists with supervising, planning, and coordinating the daily work activities and hours of the Environmental Service staff. Performs general housekeeping duties as assigned.
Provides leadership and guidance to department personnel.
Assists in developing the department's annual budget.
Monitors linen usage and reviews stats.
Assists with performance evaluations, interviewing,
Trains new employees.
Makes recommendations to the Environmental Service Manager for changes in supplies, equipment or procedures to improve safety and patient care or to reduce costs.
Coordinate daily staffing and distribute work assignments for the EVS staff.
Respond to employee problems/complaints and work with the EVS manager to resolve them.
- ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE:
- Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas (patient rooms, operating rooms, emergency rooms, delivery rooms, x-ray, lab, offices, dialysis, exam rooms, procedure rooms, visitor areas), including the Medical Arts Plaza, and any outlying facility of BBGH, following established schedules and using prescribed methods according what is appropriate for each patient age.
- Observes and reports the need to repair equipment, furniture, building and fixtures within the building.
- Has knowledge of chemicals and dispensing systems used within the department.
- Follows established policy and procedures for Environmental Service operations.
- Able to operate cleaning equipment, carpet extractor, vacuums, wet/dry vac.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Laundry
- Collects soiled linen and distributes clean linen following hospital policy and procedures.
- Able to complete all necessary and pertinent record keeping.
- Follows manufacturing guidelines related to the chemical dispensing system and wash cycles.
- Assures that all safety measures are followed.
- Provides an adequate supply of linen that is free from infectious contaminates.
- Mends torn articles.
- Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on the laundry list.
- Maintains an adequate supply of linens to meet par levels.
- Follows established policy and procedures for laundry operations.
- Able to operate laundry equipment, washers, dryers, hot press.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience:
Required: A minimum of 1 to 5 years' experience in healthcare environmental service.
This person will be scheduled Monday through Friday and one weekend a month, occasional overtime and rotating holidays and day/night hours. Ability to work in a partnership environment which fosters effective teamwork. Willing to be cross-trained in order to fill in at other EVS areas as needed.
