About This Position

Position Title: Forklift & Wood Waste Materials Operator

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Shift: 6am - 2:30pm, Monday - Friday

About the Role

We’re looking for a reliable, safety-focused team member to join our maintenance team as a Forklift & Waste Materials Operator. In this role, you’ll help keep our production floor running smoothly by transporting and processing wood waste materials, operating machinery, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. If you enjoy hands-on work, operating equipment, and staying active throughout the day, this job is a great fit.

What You’ll Do

  • Safely transport wood waste and materials using a forklift
  • Weigh and document waste materials using a drive-on scale
  • Operate a rotary grinding machine (HOG) and conveyor system
  • Remove garbage and cardboard from inside the facility
  • Maintain outdoor areas including the parking lot, pallet storage, and exterior garbage
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and standardized work instructions
  • Interpret documentation, work instructions, and machine manuals accurately

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to read and interpret scrap records and machine manuals
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Previous forklift experience highly preferred
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification (required for the role)
  • Experience in manufacturing is a plus

Work Environment

This position works in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You can expect:

  • Exposure to wood dust and cabinet-making materials
  • Use of required PPE
  • Working on concrete floors
  • Varying temperatures
  • Loud noise levels
  • Outdoor forklift operation in all weather

Physical Requirements

This is an active, physical role. You should be able to:

  • Stand and walk frequently throughout the day
  • Lift 1–70 lbs. depending on the task
  • Push/pull loaded carts up to 150 lbs.
  • Bend, stoop, twist, reach, squat, and climb as needed
  • Operate foot controls and perform tasks requiring grasping and manual dexterity
  • Work with equipment that produces low or high-impact vibration
  • Maintain required levels of vision for safety and accuracy
