Location: Providence, KY

Summary of Duties

Responsible for analyzing coding/billing of claims for errors, Ability to work in EMR, clearinghouse, as well as Payor portals. Assisting front office staff with questions regarding insurance and patient accounts. Ensuring that patients receive Good Faith Estimates.

Coding and Billing Expertise:

  • Apply advanced knowledge of coding and billing practices across a variety of healthcare services.
  • Review and assign accurate medical codes (ICD, CPT, HCPCS) for diagnoses, procedures, and services performed by physicians and other qualified healthcare providers.
  • Ensure correct usage of modifier add-on codes and place of service codes.

Billing Support and Compliance:

  • Understand billing processes thoroughly to assist Billing staff with denials and appeals.
  • Complete Good Faith Estimates for patients as required by organizational standards.
  • Investigate and resolve rejected claims related specifically to coding issues.
  • Adhere to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance in all coding and billing practices.

Patient Interaction:

  • Respond promptly and professionally to patient inquiries regarding billing and coding questions.
  • Work collaboratively with Outreach to support the Sliding Fee Discount Program and ensure accurate application of program policies.

Administrative and Training Responsibilities:

  • Assist with annual updates to ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes to maintain coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Understand insurance payments, patient payments, and payment posting processes to provide comprehensive support to billing operations.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams by assisting with coding education and training for medical providers and staff.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize high-volume tasks and manage time effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in handling all patient and organizational information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology, organized, detail oriented and have good communication and computer skills. Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to submit a background check and oral drug screen.
