Staff Accountant in Wilmington, North Carolina at Does Entertainment
Job Description
We're Hiring: Staff Accountant
Wilmington, NC | Full-Time | Exempt
Reports to: Senior Accountant
$60,000 – $70,000 base salary
About Does Entertainment
Does Entertainment owns and operates live music venues, produces festivals, and promotes stadium-scale shows. We build the operational backbone behind all of it — the settlements, the systems, and the financial infrastructure that let artists and operators focus on the show. We are for the fans, the artists, and the spaces that bring us together.
We are building our accounting function right now, deliberately and from a solid base: Sage Intacct with AP automation, a growing portfolio of entities, and real processes replacing informal ones. This role is part of that build.
The Role
The Staff Accountant owns the day-to-day transactional accounting that keeps our entities running — accounts payable, payroll, and reconciliations — and supports the month-end close alongside the Senior Accountant.
This is a good fit for someone with a few years of accounting experience who wants more scope than a single-entity AP seat offers. You will work across multiple entities, touch payroll and sales tax, and have a direct hand in building processes rather than inheriting finished ones. As the company grows, this role is expected to specialize and deepen.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable
- Process accounts payable across multiple entities in Sage Intacct, using our AP automation workflow
- Maintain the vendor master, W-9s, and 1099 compliance documentation
- Administer the corporate credit card program, including coding, receipts, and reconciliation
- Help roll out venue-level invoice approval, moving first-line coding and approval to venue General Managers
- Coordinate with venue and operations teams on payment timing, vendor questions, and documentation
Payroll
- Process semi-monthly multi-state payroll in ADP for our corporate and venue employees
- Validate timekeeping and payroll inputs, working with the Manager of Executive Operations on employee changes and benefits updates
- Support wage reporting, withholding accuracy, and state and municipal registration requirements as we add employees in new jurisdictions
Reconciliation & Close
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations across all entities
- Reconcile venue-level Toast payroll data into Sage Intacct by entity, ensuring labor is coded accurately to the right venue and department
- Prepare and file monthly sales and use tax returns across multiple states, and support local jurisdiction filings as venues come online
- Support month-end close through accruals, schedules, and reconciliation support
- Assist with event settlement and ticketing revenue reconciliation for stadium and arena shows
- Prepare and issue the small volume of customer invoices we generate, and track collections
Systems & Process
- Help document accounting standard operating procedures as we formalize them
- Support ongoing Sage Intacct optimization and workflow improvements
- Operate within a segregation-of-duties structure — approval workflows, review, and control steps are part of how the work gets done here
Your First 12 Months
By the end of your first year, success in this role looks like:
- AP, payroll, and sales tax running accurately and on time across every entity, without rework
- Clean, current reconciliations that the Senior Accountant can review rather than rebuild
- Venue-level invoice approval live and working, with General Managers coding and approving before payment
- Documented procedures for the processes you own
- Growing ownership of close tasks as the function matures
What We're Looking For
Required
- 2–4 years of hands-on accounting experience, including full-cycle accounts payable
- Experience with a cloud accounting system or ERP — Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Acumatica, Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar
- Solid Excel — pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliation work
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field OR Associate’s degree plus equivalent hands-on experience
Preferred
- Payroll processing experience, particularly in ADP
- Multi-entity accounting experience
- Multi-state sales and use tax filing experience
- Experience reconciling POS or restaurant payroll data (Toast, Square, or similar) into an accounting system
- Live entertainment, hospitality, venue, restaurant, or other multi-site operations experience
- Comfort working independently, asking good questions, and flagging what does not look right
Why Does Entertainment
- Work that connects to the show. Employees get event access and staff ticket allocations. This is finance work you can point at, and be at.
- Real scope, not a single lane. Multiple entities, payroll, sales tax, and settlements — far more range than an AP seat at a larger company.
- Build, don’t just maintain. We are formalizing processes right now. You will help write them, not just follow them.
- A path. We are building this team intentionally. As volume grows, this role deepens and specializes, and the Senior Accountant track is a real one.
- Time off we take seriously. Eight paid holidays, 15 days of PTO, and an office closure from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Eve that does not come out of your PTO.
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000 – $70,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
- 401(k) with company match — 100% of the first 3% you contribute, plus 50% of the next 2% (a 4% company contribution when you defer 5%)
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Short-term and long-term disability coverage
- 15 days of paid time off
- Eight paid holidays — New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and the day after Thanksgiving
- Plus an office closure from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Eve — paid, and separate from your PTO. We work in live entertainment, so things occasionally come up, but the week is intended as a real break.
