Position Description: JOB TITLE: Field Technician
STATUS: Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Field Supervisor

SUMMARY: The Field Technician provides onsite and remote support for clients. The Field Technician should be comfortable with handling low voltage installations (structured cable runs of ethernet / fiber, access points, point of sales devices, sound systems, VoIP equipment, cameras, door access systems, wireless point-to-point equipment, etc.), mounting and racking network equipment, performing home/commercial installs and troubleshooting of fixed wireless equipment. Onsite tasks may also include roof/tower climbing for equipment installations or troubleshooting. Please note: All tools and equipment to be provided by the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • Travel to client sites to install and support client hardware and network infrastructure.
  • Basic technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, fixed wireless equipment, VoIP phones and accessories, routers, switches, access points, firewalls, and security appliances.
  • Provide onsite support at client locations for any seasonal events, as scheduled.
  • Establish low voltage data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; installing telecommunication equipment, routers, switches; establishing connections; programming features; following industry standards; activating remote access tools; and coordinating with engineering team and vendors as needed.
  • Verify service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; and identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
  • Perform routine monthly, quarterly, and yearly maintenance on network elements, to ensure trouble-free online performance of the network.
  • Maintain configuration diagrams and documentation.
  • Maintain networks by troubleshooting and repairing outages, testing network back-up procedures, and updating documentation.
  • Resolve remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications and respond accordingly through service tickets.
  • Communicate with clients regularly: keep clients updated on incident progress and timelines, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.
  • Follow up with sales leads and conduct site surveys.
  • Answer overflow client calls, as needed.

CRITICAL DEMANDS:
  • Climbing of ladders, structures, and roofs
  • Working with hand and small power tools
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather throughout the year
  • Flexibility to provide continued client support after-hours, when necessary, in office or client site
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid drivers license
  • May be placed at a client site, seasonally, to support special events and/or peak seasons. The work week could shift to accommodate weekend needs of the client. (ie. If weekend events are scheduled, this position may be required to work Thursday through Monday to provide weekend coverage at the client site.)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience working at heights
  • Experience with structured cabling and tools
  • Experience with Ticket/CRM systems
  • Solid understanding of IP/Network Configuration/Computer literacy skills
  • Competent Climber/Rescue Climber Certifications (Preferred, Not Required Will Train)
  • Other Relevant certifications

This job operates in both a clerical office setting and outdoors at different client locations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as, more technical tools.
