About This Position

POSITION SUMMARY

Harrisburg University is seeking an experienced and dynamic Event Manager to join our growing Office of Philanthropy & Alumni Relations. This role is critical to the planning, coordination, and execution of all fundraising, campaign-related, stewardship, and departmental events. In addition, the Event Manager oversees external event services, including marketing and promotion of campus rentals, sponsorship development, and event-based revenue generation.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the planning, coordination and execution of philanthropic and special events, both on and off campus, serving as the primary project manager from concept through completion.
  • Drive fundraising and revenue growth through the strategic management of campus event rentals, cultivating mission-aligned partnerships to enhance visibility and impact.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive event plans, including timelines, briefings, run-of-show documents and logistical frameworks, in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Serve as the central liaison for all event-related communications, ensuring consistent coordination among departments, clients, vendors and stakeholders.
  • Maintain a robust system for tracking event rental performance, including revenue, expenses and profit margins.
  • Provide regular performance and financial reports to leadership to inform data-driven strategic decision-making.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, strategies and best practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to anticipate event needs and respond proactively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated alignment with and commitment to Harrisburg University’s cultural values and organizational expectations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in event planning, fundraising events, hospitality, or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events.
