The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for the position of Network Services Administrator in our City Manager's Office. Currently there is one (1) vacancy. This recruitment will serve to establish an eligibility list that may be used to fill additional vacancies that could occur over the next 12-month period.

Salary Information
$100,565 - $122,234/Annually

The City of Vacaville's Network Services Administrator role is a senior-level position focused on managing and supporting the city's IT infrastructure. This includes overseeing networks, servers, virtualization platforms and data center systems.

Infrastructure Management: Design, implement and maintain LAN/WAN networks, wireless systems, virtual infrastructure (e.g., VMware) and data center components.
Systems Administration: Administer Windows Server infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS and more.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor server logs and performance data, configuring systems to maximize efficiency.
Technical Support: Provide Tier III support and guidance to end-users and IT staff and serve as the primary liaison with vendors for technical issues.
Documentation and Analysis: Prepare and maintain system procedures, documentation and perform statistical analysis to troubleshoot enterprise-level issues.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned IT professional with a strong foundation in enterprise network and systems administration. They thrive in a dynamic environment, take initiative to solve complex problems and are committed to delivering high-quality service to internal clients.

Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities is:

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, data or information processing, information/networking systems or closely-related field preferred.

Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of computer science, data or information processing or a closely related field.

Certification: Cisco CCNA certification is highly desirable at time of appointment. Incumbents who do not possess this at the time of hire must obtain this certification as a condition of passing probation and as a condition of continued employment.

The following certifications are desirable:

  • CCNP or CCIE
  • Microsoft administrator or equivalent certifications
  • VMware certified Professional (VCP) certifications
  • Firewall certifications
  • Wireless certifications
