Job Description
SUMMARY OF THE JOB
This position will have performed exceptionally in the job functions assigned by the Controller, Deaconess Health System and Director of Financial Services; Assistant Controller, Deaconess Hospital Inc.; and Controller, Physician Services in support of the Level I essential functions. The position will also be responsible for timely and accurate internal and external reporting. It will also gain knowledge on the remainder of the key department functions, (reimbursement, decision support, budgeting, and financial reporting) not obtained through completion of Level I functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (50%)
Job Duties include the following, other duties may be assigned.
1. Prepares internal and external reports in accordance with requirements set by the government, industry, Board of Directors, and Administration.
2. Maintains integrity of data in systems used to support the reposting in (1) above.
3. Becomes sufficiently trained in at least three of the Department’s key functions such that a back-up roll can be performed and other staff can be trained.
4. Assists other departments and hospital teams/task forces with budgeting and financial trend reporting needs, including feasibility studies.
5. Must comply with Standards of Employee Conduct.
6. Continues to provide Level I functions as required by supervisor.
7. Prepares journal entries, detailed work papers and reconciliations necessary to support completion of hospital financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
8. Provides information as needed to support the maintenance of the cost accounting and Case-Mix systems, and the reimbursement function.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in the area of Accounting or Finance; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
