| Physical Requirements | The essential job functions of this position require you to: communicate and build working relationships with staff, faculty and individuals from diverse -; abide by University guidelines; maintain confidentiality; prioritize and manage work effectively; provide exceptional customer service and positively represent the university; ensure work is detailed, accurate and completed in a timely manner; lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50lbs; stand or walk with objects up to 25lbs. |

| Job Summary | The Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center is looking for a Grant Writer who will be primarily responsible for helping diabetes/obesity research investigators address Center and institutional goals in the area to develop large grant applications. This person will be instrumental in helping us identify new funding opportunities, write/coordinate grant applications, build our research base, and will be expected to ensure compliance with University of Kentucky policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local regulations. The successful candidate will have the ability to understand, interpret, and research complex and varied regulations; think critically and work collegially to successfully resolve questions and issues for faculty, staff, and colleagues; communicate timely and professionally to a diverse range of individuals; the ability to multitask and prioritize; a strong attention to detail; and a willingness to be a lifelong learner. | Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | The ideal candidate must be customer service oriented and have effective time management, planning and organizational, attention to detail, observation, decision making and analytical skills. This individual must be a team player and possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with a strong respect for diversity, and confidentiality. In addition, we are looking for experience with Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of clinical trial standards. |

| Preferred Education/Experience | Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred. A strong grant writing knowledge base as well as experience with grant submissions is highly desirable. In addition, a strong working knowledge of research regulations. |
