Job Description

SUMMARY: The AHD Sr. Lead Aide coordinates the work activities of the cleaning personnel to ensure clean, orderly and attractive conditions in the hospital. Adjusts schedules as necessary to ensure work is completed and hospital cleanliness is maintained. Coordinates some activities of the Environmental Services department with those of other hospital departments. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

1. Coordinates the activities of the Environmental Services Aides. Maintains communication and acts as a liaison between all shifts and departments in order to ensure a smooth operation and continuity of work. Prepares assignments to include established routines, as well as special areas to be cleaned and maintained.

2. Manages staff schedule, calling in staff to cover unscheduled absences or increased need due to special projects.

3. Instructs and trains employees in the use of new equipment and cleaning methods.

4. Assists in special projects as directed and researches cleaning techniques to keep current with regulations and best practice.

5. Tours hospital periodically, covering each assigned area to observe cleaning crews at work and to determine that instructions, infection control and safety regulations are being followed.

6. Participates in performance improvement activities.

7. Maintains an inventory of cleaning materials, supplies and equipment, and prepares requisition for replacement of depleted items and those in need of repair. Prevents unnecessary waste of supplies and loss of man-hours. Receives materials and supplies. Signs delivery slips and submits for reconciliation with purchase request.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred experience: Experience is environmental services department.
