NURSE CONSULTANT - RN license required
Full Time
JOB SUMMARY:
- Consults with assigned nursing facilities on a routine basis.
- Assist in conducting site visits and other types of reviews for other facilities as needed.
- Conducts Quality Assurance Audits to assist facility with maintaining Quality Resident Care.
- Provides facility with a typed report of visits. The facilities must typically provide a written response to the reports. These reports will be reviewed by nurse consultant. (Certain site visit report may not require a written response such as specific chart reviews and general visits.)
- Assist facility with compliance with regulatory agencies. This includes but is not limited to OSHA, DHHS surveys, Medicaid, and Medicare audits.
- Schedules Mock Surveys and coordinates team for the survey
- Communicates with Regulatory Compliance Consultant regarding survey activity and reviews to ensure quality implementation process
- Assist the facility implementing Plans of Correction for cited tags. Also assist in preparation of Informal Dispute Resolutions for the facilities if needed.
- Reviews all facility investigations related to abuse and neglect.
- Monitors the facility’s compliance with the standard policies and procedures implemented by Liberty Healthcare and Rehabilitation Services.
- Monitors the facility’s Quality Assurance and Risk Management Program.
- Responds to questions by facility staff concerning the policies and procedures.
- Reviews and updates current policies and procedures according to federal/state requirements and current standards of practice.
- Attends educational sessions pertinent to skilled nursing centers.
- Serves on committees as assigned.
- Works with other Liberty Healthcare departments as needed to improve Quality of Care or to improve the process in which we conduct business.
- Works with pharmacy, medical supply company and other vendors to evaluate and/or improve Quality of Care or services to the facilities.
- May be asked to serve as a witness for litigation pertaining to facilities.
- Assist new facilities in the implementation of Liberty Healthcare Policies and Procedures.
- Assist with orientation of new Directors of Nursing.
- Coordinates or participates in education session for the facilities such as DON meetings and new policy and procedure training.
- Reviews QI/QM and DON reports and other facility generated reports for concerns or trends.
- Assist the facility in evaluation of nursing care. This may include staffing pattern analysis, role development or budget analysis.
- Monitors and assist as needed with Case Mix Management and other financial processes including budget reviews.
- Communicates with Regulatory Compliance Consultant to complete weekly summary reports
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a high school graduate.
- Must be a Registered Nurse, graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Must have a current, valid RN license from the North Carolina Board of Nursing and submit proof of license renewal every other year.
- Must be willing to serve as Director of Nursing in a facility during vacancies in that position.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and able to work and cooperate well with all nursing personnel, other departments and have understanding, patience, and tact in working with patients, families, doctors, and others.
- Must have ability to make decisions regarding nursing problems.
- Must be able to teach, instruct and direct orientation, continuing education, in-services as needed.
- Must read, know, and follow personnel, department and Facility policies and procedures and adhere to local, state, and federal requirements.
- Must have working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to skilled nursing.
- Must have skilled nursing experience.
- Must have neat professional appearance at all times.
