About This Position
Position Description: Under the direction of the Athletic Department, the Lifeguard's primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of all facility users. The lifeguard is in absolute charge of the pool area. Position Responsibilities: 49.00% - Ensure the safety of the facility users 15.00% - Keep daily swim records 15.00% - Keep pool apron clear of water; sweep apron before leaving each day 10.00% - Keep pool area clear of equipment; return backboards and equipment to proper storage area before leaving each day 5.00% - Place all safety and rescue equipment in its proper place before swimmers enter the water 6.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned Expectations: To ensure the safety of all facility users. Keep pool area chean and a safe environment. Take action when necessary to protect facility users. This might include asking one or more swimmers to sit out or leave the pool area. Use of proper first aid or rescue techniques in case of accident. Report any safety concerns to supervisor or call security if swimmers refuse to obey pool rules. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Previous lifeguard experience required Education - A. Must possess a Lifeguard Training Certificate
B. Must possess CPR certification and First Aid Certification Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity. Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office or classroom.
