Diakon Behavioral Health Services offers a range of counseling and behavioral services to children, teens, families and adult individuals. Services are provided through counseling centers in Mechanicsburg, Lewisburg, Montoursville, Williamsport, within several public-school buildings, Kennett Square, and Chester County. Specialized programs include family-based mental health services, provided in the community and in-home, addiction counseling, trauma-focused therapy and SPIN, a service designed to assist children and youths who have problematic sexual behaviors.
General Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities:
- Provides intensive therapeutic services to children and families in the form of assessments, individual and family therapy using the CASSP principle. Therapy may be provided in the home, foster home and other community settings.
- Conducts individual and family therapy sessions.
- Assists with crisis stabilization and assistance with addressing problems the child, youth, or young adult has encountered.
- Develops treatment plans based on clinical evaluation and family/child strengths that are developmentally appropriate.
- Attends inter-agency meetings to coordinate development and changes to the treatment plan and services.
- Meets or exceeds required productivity level.
Education/Training - Must possess one of the following:
1. Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, or clinical social worker; OR
2. Be licensed in this Commonwealth as a social worker or a behavior specialist and have a graduate degree that required a clinical or mental health direct service practicum; OR
3. Have a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth or young adults and a graduate degree with at least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work or counseling; OR
4. Completed a clinical or mental health direct service practicum and have a graduate degree with a least nine credits specific to clinical practice in psychology, social work, education, counseling.
Experience: One (1) year minimum experience preferred because experience is explicitly connected to the type of education and outlined in the education/training section.
ADA: Ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, reach, push, and pull items weighing up to 25 lbs.; visual and auditory skills; valid driver's license

Diakon also maintains a discretionary emergency fund, which can be of assistance to staff members during critical times. In addition, Diakon offers a Love of Thy Neighbor Fund, which provides a per-day living expense and matches up to five PTO days for approved service or mission trips with other nonprofit organizations.
