Responsibilities:

  • At the start of shift, the Setup Operator verifies and maintains all machining fluids.
  • Burrs, sharp edges, and debris shall be removed from parts before packaging.
  • If any deviations from print or quality checks are found, Setup Operator stops production and informs the supervisor.
  • Setup Operator stops production and inform their supervisor if any machine or fixture issues are discovered and to rectify the issue if possible.
  • Any change to a tool or fixture are verified by selecting single-block mode, and verifying distance to go before returning the machine to production.
  • During a setup, dispose previous paperwork and return previous gauging to the quality department.
  • Conduct layer checks or final checks on product when time allows (e.g., cycle time, awaiting QC reports, end of shift).
  • Advanced print reading skills
  • Advanced understanding of G & M codes
  • Set up, program, and operate CNC machine centers
  • Train other machinists on various machines
  • Maintenance and repair of machines
  • Meets with engineers to discuss potential machine problems

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CNC set ups
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing
  • Attention to detail
  • Walk and stand for the entire shift
  • Vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift up to 25 pounds such as moving parts from material storage and moving parts in and out of work area.
