Our Summer Associate internships will be approximately 8 weeks in length and will begin Summer 2025. Summer Associate positions are for candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and July 2026.

Overview:

BRGs Healthcare Transactions and Strategy (HTS) practice provides clients valuable insight through the transaction process and informs strategic initiatives. With deep M&A buy-side experience, our professionals provide an integrated deliverable across capabilities including regulatory and reimbursement, primary market research, strategy, data analytics, and compliance. Engagements range across almost all healthcare sectors including physician services, behavioral health, health insurance, post-acute care, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. Our clients are a mix of private equity firms, lenders, physician groups, health plans, corporations. The team includes former policymakers and regulatory professionals from the executive branch, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Health and Human Services and the White House, as well as from Capitol Hill, trade associations, and state governments.

The Summer Associate position is a temporary position as a member of our consulting staff for the summer of 2025. The position will expose the intern to healthcare policy, healthcare analytics and healthcare business strategy. The position requires a highly motivated problem solver with above average research abilities and an interest to work in the healthcare business sector. The work of a Summer Associate can be either qualitative or quantitative in nature, and projects can range from industry and subject matter research to data collection to the preparation of statistical, financial, and other forms of analysis.

BRG currently has over 40 offices across the United States and internationally. This position will be based in BRGs Washington, DC or New York City offices and offers advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing expert services and consulting firm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, including federal policy, state policy, data, market research, strategy, and compliance
  • Desire to gain experience in healthcare consulting, specifically impacts on healthcare businesses for private equity and corporate strategy clients
  • Perform detailed research and analysis on trends in Medicare, Medicaid, commercial markets and assess the impact on healthcare businesses
  • Ability to perform primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research through data collection and phone interviews
  • Research and analyze legislation, regulation, and other healthcare trends and understand the implications for healthcare businesses/practices
  • Work hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations
  • Along with project work the internship provides learning and networking, such as lunch and learns, practice area spotlights, robust policy and technical trainings, and social events

Qualifications

  • Progression towards a masters degree in the areas of public health, healthcare administration, health economics, or other practice related subjects
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Prior experience and demonstration of interest in healthcare including policy, finance, business, data analytics, and other relevant connections
  • General understanding of healthcare payment systems (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid)
  • Strong problem solving and analytic skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate experience/ability meeting deadlines and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven capability with MS Excel and statistical analysis programs (e.g. SAS, SQL, SPSS, Stata, R) is preferred. A desire to expand those capabilities is required

Salary Range: $25-$35/hr

Candidate must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the United States, without company sponsorship now or in the future.
