The Role: Software Engineer, Data
We are looking for a talented engineer to join our new automated options volatility trading team. You will play an important role in our ultimate success. This requires someone hungry to succeed, passionate about the work, and wanting to navigate new challenges. Your work will center on:
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale dataset loaders, and transformers, as well as access interface mechanisms
  • Developing and maintaining data dependency management system and data generation schedules
  • Optimizing code for superior performance
  • Owning storage, as well as planning for capacity
  • Collaborating; with teammates to extract any insights and gains from new ideas, and with teams across the company to support our trading and operations

The Team:Our team is a small and expanding group of experienced electronic market makers and risk-takers in options. We aim to solve today’s most interesting volatility-based problems in financial markets by leveraging massive time-series datasets and computations and employing advanced statistical and machine-learning techniques. Our team culture is that of a start-up; we highly value ingenuity, idea generation, craftsmanship, leadership, and nimbleness.
You Bring:
  • 2+ years of experience solving challenging technical problems in large-scale, high-performance data engineering; preferably market data (trading, temporal)
  • C++ (or other OOP language) expertise
  • Solid understanding of database internals; you can design large-scale performant datasets, optimize query performance, fine-tune indexing strategies, and more
  • A self-driven approach to your work and you handle multiple concurrent projects with composure
  • A natural and enthusiastic collaborator disposition, and you are energized by actively contributing new ideas
  • A curiosity about how the markets operate and the engineering challenges created by such vast quantities of data (raw packet capture amounts of ~7TB per day of compressed data, requiring 37+ Gbps of bandwidth.)

Tech Stack: C++, SQL, Python, Linux, Automation and Pipelining
We Offer:The Base Salary Range for this role is $125,000-$225,000. This range is representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Summit. Where a candidate falls in this range will be based on job related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. This range represents Base Salary only, which is just one element of Summit’s total compensation. The range stated does not include other factors of total compensation such as bonuses or equity.
