About This Position

JOB SUMMARY

The Security Engineer will help coordinate, design and validate new security system installations to make sure they meet all security standards. In addition, the security engineer will act as an escalation point for all security issues. This position will work closely with the technology and applications groups and vendors to access and monitor all IT solutions. The security engineer will be responsible for helping the business maintain compliance with the various security regulations that apply to the GSRN. This position also installs and maintains security systems and tools used throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

● Inspect the increase of security episodes giving root cause scrutiny and debate the proliferation of viruses, malware, and prevent hacker intrusion across all IS systems.

●Pinpoint security compromises, hazards, and susceptibilities of systems, operations, and recent technology actions.

●Furnish technical support in the evolution, trials, and activity of firewalls, encroachment detection systems, secure web/email gateways, enterprise anti-virus, and SIEM toolsImplement, and convey security protocol for data, software applications, hardware, and telecommunications.

●Supervise security incidents daily for skeptical activeness and pinpoint possible security risk and offenses using a SIEM and other technology tools.

●Be able to give actionable threat resolution approach in drafted and presentation form

●Create system documentation, project plans, test scripts and education materials.

●Collaboration with IT Teams: work closely with other IT Teams, such as network administrators, system administrators, and IT support, to integrate security measures into overall IT operations.

●Ensure the security of operating systems, servers, and endpoints through the implementation of security patches, updates, and configuration management.

●Implement and maintain intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and attacks.

●Review and monitor security logs and alerts to identify potential security incidents and conducting thorough analysis to understand the nature of the threats.

●Stay informed about the latest security threats, trends, and technologies through continuous learning and research to adapt security measures accordingly.

●Conduct regular security audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls and identify areas for improvement.

●Document security incidents, response activities, and lessons learned to improve the organization's security posture over time.

●Manage and maintain security software solutions (e.g., antivirus, anti-malware) to safeguard the organization's IT infrastructure.

●User Access Control: manage user access rights and permissions to ensure that individuals have the appropriate level of access needed for their roles while preventing unauthorized access.

●Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and implementing measures to address and mitigate identified vulnerabilities in systems and applications.

●Conduct regular reviews and audits of security processes, procedures, and controls to identify gaps and areas for improvement.

●Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and update security procedures, guidelines, and documentation.

●Serve as a subject matter expert on security governance, processes, and procedures, providing guidance and support to internal teams.

●Participate in risk assessments and mitigation planning activities related to security governance and compliance.

●Develop and document SOPs around daily operational tasks.

●Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

●Bachelor's Degree in information technology, Information Security or a related field required

Work Experience

●5 years of experience in information technology as a security analyst/engineer required.

●5 years of experience of hands on information security required

●Previous experience and working knowledge of security procedures and system design required

Licenses / Certifications

●CompTIA Security+ or CISSP preferred but not required

Skills and Abilities

●Must be able to communicate effectively.
