Position Summary

The Psychiatric Staff RN is responsible for implementing, directing, communicating and documenting the nursing process and provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and associates. The RN practices in accordance with current established standards of care, the Nurse Practice Act, the Powers Health policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Documents a physical assessment each shift including subjective/objective data.
• Communicates with patients, families and/or significant others in an effort to individualize patient’s plan of care to them.
• Verifies that physician’s orders are transcribed properly and carried out promptly.
• Reports significant changes in patient’s condition to unit manager/charge nurse/shift supervisor and/or physician.
• Continuously evaluates patient’s responses to plan of care, teaching plans and rehabilitation activities throughout hospitalization and upon discharge.

Education/Experience

• ASN or BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
• Currently licensed as a RN by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
• Obtains and maintains current certification in BLS, and other required certificates in specialty areas.
