Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Plumbing Engineer to join our Building Design Group. The ideal candidate will design and oversee plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, and government facilities. This role involves collaborating with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to deliver high-quality, code-compliant designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Layout: Develop plumbing system designs including domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, and specialty systems (medical gas, compressed air, etc.).
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare drawings, specifications, and cost estimates using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure designs meet local, state, and national codes (IPC, NFPA, LEED standards).
  • Coordination: Work closely with architects, structural, and mechanical engineers to integrate plumbing systems into overall building design.
  • Construction Support: Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and perform site visits for quality assurance.
  • Analysis: Conduct hydraulic calculations, sizing of piping systems, and equipment selection.
  • Innovation: Incorporate sustainable design practices and energy-efficient solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 10-15 years of plumbing design experience in building projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with BIM workflows.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing codes, standards, and sustainable design principles.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • US Citizenship required

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $100,000.00 - $180,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
