Job Description

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York’s premier human services providers, is a settlement house founded in 1894 that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services—social, educational, health, housing, mental health, nutritional and fitness—which significantly improve the lives of 16,000 people in need each year, ages 3 to 103, on the East Side of Manhattan. Our Early Childhood Center is a model program and lab school designed to provide the best possible educational, developmental and social services to 147 low-income preschoolers and their families--all eligible for Head Start--and to advance the field of early childhood education and development on a national level. We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and set the standard for comprehensive educational and family services in the preeminent Early Childhood setting. Our holistic approach prepares children for success in elementary school and in life by offering a seamless, age-appropriate curriculum that strengthens language, literacy, motor, social and emotional and cognitive development, as well as integrated Family Services. Our educational curriculum includes art, music, movement, swimming, farm to table food and many other components from our holistic settlement house.


We have an opportunity for a Family Services Associate to join our Family Services Team. The Family Services Associate will have primary responsibility for the following:

Coordinate services and supports for children enrolled in our programProvide comprehensive social services and supports for their families – from intake, assessment and evaluation through the transition to kindergarten Provide direct assistance and case management for assigned family rosterDevelop and encourage family goal settingConduct home visits and provide in-class supports Collaborate with our teaching teams and facilitate family-focused support groupsRepresent the organization with community partners, providers and funders Work with other Family Services staff, social workers and teachers on program-wide initiatives and provide training to families and staff. Conduct year long outreach and recruitment for the programDevelop and maintain relationships with a variety of key stakeholders including families, community partners and educational providers to ensure comprehensive services are available to all participating in our program Complete all other responsibilities as assigned


Qualifications: The successful candidate will have experience working with low-income young children and their families; a stellar academic career; the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high achieving environment; excellent written and communication skills; the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and a commitment to achieving excellence on behalf of our children and families. Spanish fluency is required based on the language needs of our children and families we serve. Bachelor’s or master’s in social work or a related field such

as human services, counseling, family services. This position is Monday through Friday with typical hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm daily. We operate a year-round program.


Salary: $70,000 annually
