Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Conventional Generation Principal Engineer in United States.
This role is a senior technical leadership position focused on the design, integration, and optimization of electrical systems for conventional thermal power generation assets. You will play a key role in delivering engineering solutions for gas turbine, reciprocating engine, and combined-cycle power plants, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with industry standards. The position involves both hands-on engineering design and field involvement across the full project lifecycle, from conceptual design to commissioning and troubleshooting. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with mechanical and control components in complex energy infrastructure projects. The environment is highly technical and innovation-driven, supporting the evolution of modern and resilient power grids. This is a strategic opportunity to contribute to large-scale energy projects shaping the future of conventional and hybrid power generation systems.
- Lead the design of electrical systems for conventional thermal generation assets, including AC single line diagrams, HV/MV distribution systems, and grounding schemes.
- Select, specify, and validate electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and instrumentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee installation activities, factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in power generation facilities.
- Ensure all electrical engineering work complies with applicable codes and safety standards, including NEC and other relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with mechanical, control, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of systems across plant components.
- Manage project execution to ensure delivery within defined quality, schedule, and budget constraints.
- Provide technical leadership and contribute to internal best practices and knowledge development within engineering teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems or Mechanical Engineering with relevant electrical systems exposure.
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license is required.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical design for gas turbine, combined-cycle, CHP, or reciprocating engine power plants.
- Strong experience in power generation or industrial electrical systems engineering.
- Hands-on experience with major OEM technologies such as GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Solar Turbines, Wärtsilä, Caterpillar, or MAN.
- Proven knowledge of simple-cycle, combined-cycle, CHP, and RICE-based plant configurations.
- Strong understanding of electrical system design principles, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Ability to coordinate across disciplines and lead technical discussions in complex engineering environments.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
- Willingness to participate in occasional travel for site support activities.
Benefits:
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with full premium coverage for employees.
- Generous paid time off and paid holidays.
- Employee ownership program.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
- Strong career development opportunities working alongside industry leaders.
- Exposure to large-scale, high-impact energy infrastructure projects.
