Job Description
Coastal Medical Transportation Systems is seeking a Fleet Service Manager for our Quincy base! This leadership role oversees fleet maintenance, parts inventory, and vehicle readiness to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the organization's emergency vehicle fleet. The ideal candidate is a technically skilled, organized, and experienced leader committed to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise all fleet maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Ensure all work meets safety, regulatory, and quality standards for emergency vehicles.
- Provide hands-on technical support and assist with repairs as needed.
- Manage work orders, maintenance records, and service schedules using fleet management software.
- Oversee parts inventory, procurement, and vendor relationships to ensure timely, cost-effective repairs.
- Coordinate with Operations to prioritize vehicle readiness and minimize downtime.
- Maintain regular communication with Fleet leadership regarding fleet status, shop operations, and maintenance needs.
- Monitor phone and communication channels to support rapid response to vehicle issues and operational needs.
- Schedule, assign, and oversee daily work for fleet technicians.
- Mentor, coach, and support technicians while promoting a safe, professional, and collaborative work environment.
Qualifications:
Experience in fleet maintenance, preferably in emergency services, heavy-duty truck, or transport vehicle repair.
Experience in a supervisory or lead technical role.
Proven hands-on experience in diagnostic and repair work for gasoline and diesel vehicles.
Expertise in using and maintaining fleet management/maintenance software (CMMS).
Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail regarding records, inventory, and cost tracking.
Exceptional communication and responsiveness is mandatory, including the ability to actively monitor and respond to phone and chat groups outside of standard work hours as needed.
Valid driver's license required; relevant certifications (e.g., ASE Master Technician) highly desirable.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
The pay range for this position is $30/hr to $40/hr based on experience and qualifications.
