About the role

The GEL Group, Inc. is looking for a skilled Accountant to join our close-knit team of accounting professionals in our Charleston, SC office. The Accountant is responsible for various day-to-day activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts, data analysis, and generating reports.

What you'll do

Daily tasks for the Accountant include, but are not limited to cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts, generating reports, data analysis, preparing financial statements and related workpapers, manipulating spreadsheets and electronic data, mastering software systems, assisting with automation opportunities and software implementation /upgrades and performing various other administrative duties relating to accounting. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses exceptional analytical skills, demonstrates strong technological acumen, and provides insightful financial reporting. Additional accounting duties include:

  • Accounts Payable-process vendor invoices, expense reimbursements and recurring monthly payments
  • Accounts Receivable-prepare and process invoices for services rendered and manage collections
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Handle vendor/supplier relationships and reconcile vendor statements
  • Handle customer relationships and reconcile customer accounts
  • Processing of journal entries and allocations
  • Communication with internal and external parties
  • Opportunities for cross training on various accounting functions and across GEL divisions and affiliates
  • Upholding and exemplifying strong ethical standards aligned with the company's core values

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration preferred.
  • Two-year technical degree plus three years accounting experience, or five years' experience working in an accounting department required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with advanced accounting software and technology platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAGE 300 ERP, Deltek Vantagepoint).
  • Familiarity with expense management tools (e.g., SAP Concur).
  • Document management software (e.g., Revver).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools, specifically Excel, and other analytical tools.
