SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday; Day/Evening Rotating schedule

(7 am - 3:30 pm, 7:30 am - 4 pm, 8:30 am - 5 pm, & 10:30 am - 7 pm)

SUMMARY

Performs and assists cardiologists in performing angiographic procedures, obtaining films of good diagnostic quality while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients undergoing these procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for radiography of patients in all assigned areas of cardiology

  • Studies are completed in a reasonable time frame and meet department quality standards, as observed by the supervisor and evidenced by feedback from cardiologists.

  • Patients are handled safely and courteously as observed by supervisors and evidenced by cardiologist and nurse feedback. No more than three documented, legitimate complaints annually.

  • Room preparation and cleanup, assistance in procedures, and aseptic/sterile technique are performed to established standards. Verified by supervisor observation and evidenced by cardiologist feedback.

  • Post-procedure duties, including transfer, storage, and hard copy of angiographic studies, are completed promptly and to department standards, as observed by supervisor and evidenced by feedback from cardiologist.

  • Equipment and supplies are handled carefully and safely, as evidenced by feedback from cardiologists and observation by supervisors.

  • Maintains accountability for timely and proper service to patients during unsupervised shifts.

  • Information concerning patient and/or equipment problems is given routinely to oncoming staff and supervisor, as evidenced by observation and feedback from other staff members and supervisor.

  • Duties of support staff are properly directed to achieve expected service, as evidenced by feedback from cardiologists, nursing, and support staff.

  • Response to the on-call page is made promptly, and arrival time is within thirty minutes when called in, to be documented by logging of times as per established procedure.

  • Maintains accountability for proper documentation of exams and related procedures.

  • All procedure documentation is put in the appropriate areas within the department and in the chart as observed by the supervisor and evidenced by feedback from the cardiologist.

  • Proper patient-holding procedure is followed as outlined by state guidelines and is documented in the appropriate logbook.

  • Any incident of injury to patient, staff, or visitor is properly and immediately documented by an incident report as per hospital procedure, evidenced by review of such reports.

  • Orders, written in chart or verbally given by cardiologist, are checked and carried out as documented in the chart and related paperwork, as evidenced by review of charts and reports.

  • Maintains accountability for the patient throughout the procedure.

  • Reasonable number of procedures is performed safely and to program specifications. A 24-hour maximum wait is maintained for inpatients whenever possible, as observed by supervisors and evidenced by radiologist/cardiologist feedback and daily recording of procedures.

  • Arrangements for patient transport and/or preparation are made utilizing department and other personnel through effective communication, as observed by the supervisor and evidenced by cardiologist feedback. Transport of stable monitored patients to and from the cath lab area when required after successful completion of BLS training.

  • Transfer, storage, and hard-copy recording of procedures are accomplished promptly, thoroughly, and to established quality standards, as observed by the supervisor and evidenced by cardiologist feedback.

  • Assists in emergency situations as trained in BLS, as observed by the supervisor, and as evidenced by feedback from cardiologists.

  • Actively participates in the maintenance of quality care within the hospital and department.

  • Participates in quality assurance procedures within the department to ensure the highest level of patient care.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Assists with the orientation of new employees, students, and other clinical staff. Assists with staff development and planning of clinical competencies for the department.

  • Works within department guidelines to improve patient care and control costs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two-year college certificate or equivalent

  • Required Licensure/Certification Skills: NYS license in Radiologic Technology

  • ARRT (R)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) certification through ARRT

  • 1 year of Radiologic Technologist experience

EDUCATION:

  • AS: Radiologic Technology

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $33.25 - $45.50

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
