The primary mission of the Division of Oncological Sciences at OHSU's Knight Cancer Institute is to better understand cancer through basic, translational, and population-based research that improves cancer prevention, detection, and treatments for all. The primary purpose of the Lab/Consortium Manager (temporary) is to provide oversight of the Lab and its staff members, working jointly with the PI on research projects as assigned, with a focus on women’s health and cancer. This individual will coordinate multiple simultaneous research collaborations within a large consortium, completing tasks in a timely manner while managing competing priorities across multiple transdisciplinary research projects. Drawing on an understanding of basic epidemiologic principles of study design, data collection, and quality control, as well as working knowledge of statistical analyses of epidemiologic data, this person will contribute to the design of research studies, procedures, and day-to-day operations supporting research goals and grant commitments, including ensuring regulatory compliance. With expert knowledge of research practices, this person will direct and teach others in methodology/Standard Operating Procedures.
This role requires excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external research partners. Strong interpersonal skills, whether by phone, email, or in person, and the ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships are essential, as is skill in meeting facilitation and agenda management. The Lab/Consortium Manager also will have the opportunity to contribute scientifically to ongoing projects by helping to write proposals and manuscripts and aid in data analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Master's in relevant field AND 3 year of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of Bachelor's in relevant field in conjunction with training and experience may be considered May require specific experience in particular area of research
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Understanding of basic epidemiologic principles of study design and data collection and quality control
- Working knowledge of statistical analyses of epidemiologic data
- Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external research partners
- Excellent interpersonal interaction skills both on the phone, by email, and in person
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
- Skills in meeting facilitation and agenda management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Epidemiology, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Data Science, or other related fields
- Experience with databases containing epidemiologic data
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, and PowerPoint) on Window OS. Ability to accurately type 60wpm
- Working knowledge of SAS and/or R
- Understanding of IRB processes and human subjects research regulations (e.g., HIPAA, informed consent)
- Exposure to data sharing agreement requirements
