Transcriptionist Summary

The Medical Transcriptionist transcribes and encodes all pathology reports and performs associated clerical and computer applications. He/she performs all secretarial duties for the Pathologists and for the Laboratory. The Medical Transcriptionist participates in the educational and professional development of laboratory personnel, new employees and students and may participate in the performance of routine administrative and non-routine technical functions.

Transcriptionist Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Successful completion or graduation of an approved medical secretarial school is preferred.

Experience

• One to three years' experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or secretary in a comparable position preferred.
