Department: Weaving Preparation
Reports To: Weaving Preparation Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Status: Full-Time
The Warping Operator is responsible for safely setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining direct warping equipment used to prepare warp beams for the weaving process. The position ensures yarn is processed according to production specifications, quality requirements, and established production schedules while supporting operational efficiency, waste reduction, and workplace safety.
Essential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Set up and operate direct warping machinery according to work orders, specifications, and operating procedures.
- Review production requirements to verify yarn type, beam specifications, end count, length, and other applicable production standards.
- Load yarn packages into creels and thread yarn through machine components in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure proper yarn tension, alignment, and beam formation.
- Repair broken ends and address minor processing issues to maintain product quality and productivity.
- Replace depleted yarn packages as necessary.
- Inspect yarn and beams for defects, contamination, irregularities, and quality concerns.
- Verify that completed beams meet established specifications and production requirements.
- Record production information, downtime, quality findings, and other required documentation accurately.
- Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and operator-level preventive maintenance activities.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, safety hazards, or operational issues to supervision.
- Safely move materials, yarn packages, and completed beams using approved equipment and procedures.
- Comply with all company policies, safety procedures, quality standards, and work rules.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Ability to read and understand production instructions, work orders, and specifications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and measurements.
- Ability to identify yarn defects and process abnormalities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Manufacturing or textile experience preferred but not required.
- Previous machine operation experience is beneficial.
- Ability to successfully complete company training requirements.

- Frequently stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.

- Visually inspect materials and products for quality-related defects and irregularities.
- Work around moving machinery and equipment while following established safety procedures.
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, fibers, and varying temperatures.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as determined by company policy and safety requirements.
- Overtime, weekend work, or schedule adjustments may be required based on business needs.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Properly use required PPE.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, and near-miss events immediately.
- Participate in required safety training and meetings.
- Operate equipment only when properly trained and authorized.
