Essential Functions
- Responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Develops and reviews the organization's policies, practices, and guidelines.
- Assists in protecting the organization's legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.
- Provides counsel to senior leadership.
- Identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations to top management, and assures legal compliance.
- Assists or represents the organization in business negotiations.
- Required education and experience: J.D. Degree and 10-12 years' experience
- Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Other: State Bar membership required
- Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Compliance management. Due diligence. Issue resolution. Legal document review. Legal research. Legal writing. Legal-Contracts review. Litigation case management. Negotiation. Operations management. Regulatory environment. Regulatory compliance. Risk mitigation. Legal advising. Corporate governance. Legal Case Management Software.
- Other: Prior in-house and government contracts experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks applicable to aerospace and defense companies, including experience with government contracts and familiarity with FAR/DFARS and related flow-downs and compliance obligations
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
