Mid-Level Financial Assistance/Grants Management Specialist (Aviation)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mid-Level Financial Assistance/Grants Management Specialist (Aviation) based in United States.

This role supports the full lifecycle of federal financial assistance and grants, from application review through award closeout.
You’ll apply financial, analytical, and regulatory expertise to complex assistance programs and funding decisions.
The position combines research, financial analysis, documentation, negotiation support, and stakeholder engagement.
You’ll work closely with authorized government personnel and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Success requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to turn complex information into clear, actionable guidance.
You’ll operate with meaningful autonomy while contributing to critical aviation-related missions and future program opportunities.

Accountabilities:
  • Support financial assistance and grants management activities across the complete award lifecycle, including application review, award administration, performance monitoring, and closeout.
  • Analyze and help resolve complex financial assistance, accounting, and financial management issues, using research, data, and sound judgment to develop practical solutions.
  • Research information, compile statistics, analyze financial data, and present findings clearly to authorized government personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate, concise, and unambiguous documentation using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe, including memoranda for record, memoranda of understanding, and other award-related materials.
  • Support price analysis, funding decisions, negotiations, and the appropriate and compliant use of government funds.
  • Participate in negotiations involving complex financial assistance awards and provide guidance related to grants and cooperative agreements.
  • Review grant applications and related documentation for compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and program requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of award performance, ensuring activities are administered in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Exercise professional judgment and creativity when planning and executing project responsibilities, working effectively under general supervision.
  • Build productive relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders through strong communication, responsiveness, and customer service.
  • Conduct final reviews of completed awards and prepare and process required closeout documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • At least six years of relevant professional experience in financial assistance, grants management, financial operations, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Strong Excel skills and demonstrated ability to work with financial data, reporting, analysis, and statistical information.
  • Experience researching complex financial or regulatory topics and translating findings into clear written and verbal recommendations.
  • Ability to prepare professional documentation and reports using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Adobe, and similar business tools.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, funding principles, documentation requirements, and compliance considerations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with government personnel, clients, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
  • Previous experience working with federal government programs, grants, financial assistance, or government systems is preferred.
  • A collaborative, service-oriented approach and the ability to build trust while handling sensitive financial and program information.
