Algotale - SCOM Consultant(Delphi)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Algotale - SCOM Consultant (Delphi) based in India.

This role is an opportunity for an experienced systems monitoring professional to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-scale Microsoft SCOM environments.
You will take ownership of monitoring architecture, operational reliability, management packs, automation, and performance across complex IT infrastructures.
The position involves supporting technologies including Windows Server, Linux, VMware, SQL Server, Active Directory, Azure, and business-critical applications.
You will help organizations strengthen proactive monitoring, improve infrastructure visibility, and maintain high availability across thousands of monitored devices.
The role combines hands-on technical delivery with troubleshooting, automation, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
You will work independently while contributing to enterprise monitoring strategies, ITSM integrations, and continuous operational improvement.
This is a strong fit for a technically skilled SCOM specialist who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and working in a remote environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, architect, deploy, and administer Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) solutions for enterprise environments.
  • Lead end-to-end SCOM implementations, including planning, installation, configuration, migration, upgrades, and ongoing administration.
  • Configure and manage Management Groups, Management Servers, Gateways, Web Console, Reporting, and Data Warehouse components.
  • Develop monitoring strategies aligned with business, infrastructure, and operational requirements.
  • Implement proactive monitoring for Windows Server, Linux, VMware, SQL Server, Exchange, Active Directory, Azure, and business-critical applications.
  • Configure alerts, notifications, dashboards, distributed applications, and service-level monitoring to improve infrastructure visibility.
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and customize Microsoft and third-party Management Packs, including monitors, rules, discoveries, views, dashboards, and reports.
  • Develop custom monitoring solutions using PowerShell, WMI, SNMP, and scripting technologies.
  • Monitor SCOM health and performance, identify infrastructure optimization opportunities, and contribute to capacity planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SCOM infrastructure issues, agent failures, alert storms, monitoring gaps, and other operational incidents.
  • Manage SCOM agents throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform SCOM patching, health checks, upgrades, performance tuning, and preventive maintenance.
  • Develop custom reports and dashboards using SCOM Reporting and Power BI integrations.
  • Automate operational activities using PowerShell and System Center components to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Integrate SCOM with ticketing and ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow.
  • Prepare technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-transfer materials while supporting customer-facing engagements.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SCOM, with proven experience supporting enterprise-scale monitoring environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with end-to-end SCOM architecture, implementation, migration, administration, troubleshooting, and operational support.
  • Strong expertise with SCOM 2016, 2019, and/or 2022.
  • Solid experience designing and customizing Management Packs, including monitors, rules, discoveries, views, dashboards, and reports.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, SQL Server, and Azure services.
  • Practical experience monitoring Linux/Unix systems through SCOM.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.
  • Experience with SCOM reporting, dashboards, performance tuning, and enterprise monitoring best practices.
  • Experience managing large-scale environments with thousands of monitored devices.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes and operational service management principles.
  • Familiarity with SCCM/MECM, SCVMM, Orchestrator, or other System Center technologies is a plus.
  • Experience integrating SCOM with ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms is advantageous.
  • Exposure to Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, cloud monitoring, and hybrid monitoring architectures is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Microsoft certifications related to System Center, Azure, or Windows Server are desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of enterprise monitoring environments.
  • Strong documentation, knowledge-transfer, and customer-facing capabilities.
