This is a senior executive opportunity to help establish and lead the financial foundation of a newly formed, regulated banking institution. The role carries full responsibility for financial strategy, reporting, liquidity, capital planning, and regulatory compliance within a fast-evolving fintech banking environment. You will play a critical role in building robust financial systems, controls, and governance structures from the ground up while ensuring full alignment with banking regulations. Working closely with the CEO and Board, you will shape financial decision-making, investment strategy, and long-term balance sheet health. The position requires a blend of technical banking expertise and strategic leadership, with high visibility across regulators, auditors, and executive stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role where precision, judgment, and regulatory rigor are essential. It is ideal for a finance executive who thrives in both operational execution and institution-building.
- Lead all financial operations of the bank, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
- Oversee regulatory reporting requirements, including Call Reports, financial disclosures, and compliance submissions to banking authorities.
- Develop and maintain strong internal control frameworks ensuring audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and financial integrity.
- Manage liquidity, asset-liability management (ALM), interest rate risk, and capital adequacy strategies.
- Serve as Investment Officer, overseeing investment policy, portfolio strategy, and deployment of excess capital and deposits.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of financial books, records, and operational accounting policies aligned with regulatory standards.
- Lead interactions with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders during examinations and inquiries.
- Present financial performance, forecasts, and strategic insights to executive leadership and the Board.
- Oversee core financial operations including payroll, accounts payable, and payment processing functions.
- 10–15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in banking or regulated financial services.
- 5+ years in a senior financial leadership role (CFO, Controller, Treasurer, or equivalent) within a regulated financial institution.
- Strong expertise in GAAP financial reporting, regulatory accounting, and bank Call Report preparation.
- Deep knowledge of banking regulations, internal controls, capital planning, and risk management frameworks.
- Experience with asset-liability management (ALM), liquidity strategy, and balance sheet optimization.
- Proven ability to manage financial systems, audits, and regulatory examinations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience presenting to boards or regulators.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Preferred: experience with CECL, investment portfolio management, FHLB relationships, or fintech banking models.
