Job Description
Summary
The Front Office Medical Receptionist provides high-quality customer service to all patients and visitors entering the medical center. This role performs a wide variety of clerical and administrative tasks using knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and Electronic Health Records (EHR). The receptionist ensures a smooth, efficient, and positive patient experience from arrival to departure.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides exceptional customer service by greeting patients and visitors promptly, courteously, and professionally.
- Answers telephone calls courteously, screens inquiries, and routes calls to appropriate staff.
- Performs new patient registration, including verifying and entering demographics into the HER
- Verifies insurance coverage, addresses, telephone numbers, and other required information to ensure accuracy and proper billing.
- Conducts patient check-in and checkout in a timely and accurate manner.
- Confirms and schedules patient appointments.
- Collects co-payments and self-pay payments.
- Documents patient requests, messages, and concerns in accordance with practice procedures.
- Receives, scans, routes, and processes incoming documents.
- Ensures timely and accurate processing of forms, referrals, medical records requests, and other patient documentation.
- Maintains effective patient flow to minimize wait times.
- Uses MS Office programs and EHR systems for typing, reporting, and data entry.
- Ensures full compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all clinic policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a healthcare front office, clinical setting, or clerical role preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs required.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred.
- Bilingual skills preferred (English/Spanish or English/Creole).
