Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining executable production schedules that align scope, material availability, and labor capacity in a project‑based manufacturing environment. This role supports safe, efficient production execution by sequencing work, monitoring schedule adherence, and coordinating readiness across Operations, Materials, and Engineering.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules at the job and operation level
- Create and maintain accurate job statuses, dates, and planning data within the ERP system
- Sequence work across work centers and trades to support project milestones and physical build constraints and release in logical, executable order
- Identify critical path activities and schedule risks and work cross functionally to reduce risks
- Update schedules proactively as conditions, priorities, or constraints change
- Validate that jobs and operations include appropriate routings, labor hours, and material requirements
- Align production plans with material availability
- Coordinate material shortages, constraints, and recovery options with Materials and Purchasing
- Identify labor or work center capacity risks and escalate as appropriate
- Track plan‑versus‑actual performance at the job and operation level
- Identify past‑due operations and downstream impacts
- Support recovery planning through resequencing, adjusted priorities, or revised timing (with leadership approval)
- Support SQDC cadence by providing accurate planning data for daily and weekly production reviews
- Support supervisors and production teams by clarifying scheduled priorities and work readiness
POSITION IN ORGANIZATION:
This position reports directly to the Materials Manager. This position has no direct reports.

EDUCATION:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related field — or equivalent experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or a related manufacturing support role
- Working knowledge of production scheduling principles, job routings, and capacity considerations
- APICS CPIM Certification preferred
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Syteline)
- Ability to coordinate across Operations, Materials, and Engineering functions
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position primarily operates in an office environment and requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and analyzing production schedules and data. The employee must occasionally stand, walk, and move throughout the facility to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support production planning activities. Periodic visits to production and shipyard areas are required, which may involve navigating stairs, uneven surfaces, and active work environments. Occasional light lifting (e.g., files, documents, or small materials up to approximately 20–25 pounds) may be required. The role may also involve extended periods of standing and walking while supporting production coordination and observing operations.

1st Shift Schedule: Similar to Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 3:30pm, Friday, 6:00am - 10:00am.
