Registered Nurse, diagnostic Cardiology, Part-Time, Days

Beacon Health System is hiring a part-time, day-shift Registered Nurse for our Diagnostic Cardiology department at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN.


Type: Part-Time/FTE .50 (20 hrs/wk)
Shift: Day
Shift Details: 20 hours per week, flexible scheduling, call every 5th weekend

Elkhart General Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital located in Elkhart, Indiana. What You’ll Do

As a Diagnostic Cardiology Registered Nurse, you’ll report to the Director. You will apply the nursing process utilizing Relationship-Based Care framework. You establish strong patient-family relationships and collaborate with other professional, clinical, and ancillary staff in providing quality care to patients. You will display strong teamwork, exhibit self-care, and self-knowing to be empathetic and compassionate with every interaction.



Diagnostic Cardiology RN Job Responsibilities

  • Practice self-care: balance workload, take breaks, and use vacation time.

  • Recognize stress and take appropriate respite.

  • Demonstrate care for the team and patients that align with core values.

  • Accept accountability, address issues, and follow up with leadership.

  • Serve as a role model and preceptor for new associates.

  • Communicate and collaborate with the health team for safe care.

  • Participate in rounds, handoffs, briefs, and huddles.

  • Delegate and supervise appropriately, fostering trust and collaboration.

  • Plan and prioritize care based on nursing diagnosis.

  • Maintain competence, accountability, and patient dignity.

  • Protect confidentiality and respect patient rights.

  • Perform systematic assessments and formulate nursing diagnoses.

  • Engage patients/families in care, use teach-back, and answer promptly.

  • Provide nondiscriminatory care and promote health restoration.

  • Seek education and growth through continuing education and committees.

  • Request supervision when needed and maintain attendance.

  • Evaluate goals with patients and revise care plans.

  • Conduct purposeful rounding and audits.

  • Ensure thorough documentation and participate in quality reviews.

  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

What You Bring

You bring a high level of knowledge and competency in interdisciplinary planning as well as performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques. You bring strong analytical and organizational skills necessary to assess, develop, and implement individualized plans of patient care/education in changing patient situations, with recognition of actual and potential problems, patient/family involvement, and the collection of data related to unit nursing care concerns. You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with patients and families, as well as effective working relationships with staff, physicians, and others. You possess the leadership skills to provide constructive feedback to peers regarding nursing issues and participate in unit and hospital-wide decision-making. You are adaptable, flexible, and support changes made. You can communicate, both verbally and in writing, clearly and concisely. You bring general working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) and diagnosis of patients served, to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.

  • Candidates hired after January 1, 2014, must have or obtain a BSN within five (5) years of employment as a Registered Nurse or will have the option to become certified in their area of specialty. The certification must be maintained based on accrediting body standards.
