Job Description
The Estimator is responsible for developing precise and competitive cost estimates for manufacturing projects based on customer specifications and company objectives. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with internal departments to ensure cost-effective production solutions.
Essential Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for new and recurring projects.
Analyze blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications to determine cost factors.
Calculate material costs, labor hours, and machine time required for manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with sales, engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure estimate accuracy and feasibility.
Update estimates to reflect cost changes, project modifications, and new production methods.
Provide timely and well-documented estimates to support customer quotes and internal decision-making.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Qualifications & Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for cost evaluation.
Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings.
Effective communication skills for both internal collaboration and external customer interactions.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, and quality control, with applications in industrial products.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience
2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, operations, technical sales, or data analysis.
Technical education (certificate or degree) in engineering, manufacturing, industrial technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Prior estimating experience is helpful but not required; training is available for candidates with relevant technical backgrounds.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
It is primarily an office setting with periodic exposure to the manufacturing environment, including machinery, noise, and temperature variations.
Some physical activity includes lifting up to 20 lbs, standing for extended periods, and occasional bending, stooping, crouching, or reaching.
Occasional movement throughout the production facility to collaborate with operations and engineering teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
