What You Will Do
- Provide comprehensive operational, programmatic, and administrative support to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, Director of University Events, and Director of Government and Community Relations.
- Support the planning, coordination, implementation, and assessment of programs, events, strategic initiatives, and special projects that advance institutional priorities and community engagement efforts.
- Serve as a liaison among campus leadership, Chancellors Council members, and external stakeholders to facilitate effective communication, collaboration, and project execution.
- Coordinate operational activities, maintaining assessment data and reporting processes, supporting university events and outreach initiatives, and ensuring compliance with institutional procedures and reporting requirements.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Administration, Higher Education, or a related field
- Two (2) years of professional experience in higher education, nonprofit administration, event coordination, governmental/community relations, executive operations, program coordination, or a related administrative environment
- Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, projects, events, or operational activities involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Experience preparing reports, maintaining records or assessment data, and supporting organizational operations and communications
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive information with professionalism
- Proficiency in standard office software and administrative systems used for scheduling, reporting, communication, and record management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree from an accredited institution
- Progressively responsible experience within higher education administration, executive leadership offices, university events, governmental/community relations, student affairs, or similarly complex administrative environments
- Experience supporting senior leadership through coordination of strategic initiatives, executive communications, events, or institutional projects
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives independently, including planning, implementation, and assessment
- Experience coordinating university-wide events, community engagement initiatives, or cross-functional institutional programs
- Strong problem-solving, project coordination, and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental requirements.Extra Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits, holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.
Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.

The screening process will encompass a criminal background check and, where applicable, other background checks such as a drug screen, verification of employment and education or licensure/certification, reference checks, and/or checks with relevant government registries. Additional Information: SIUE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States and visa sponsorship for this position will not be provided.
