Job Description – Bartender
Reports To: General Manager, Department Manager, or other designated member of hotel leadership
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous bartending, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred
- Knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cocktails, beer, and wine service
- Prepare and cook items from the hotel’s bar food menu in accordance with hotel recipes, food safety standards and presentation guidelines
- Ability to accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and point-of-sale systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and local liquor laws
- Food Handler Certification and Responsible Beverage Service Certification preferred or required based on local regulations
General Responsibilities
- Provide professional, friendly, and efficient beverage service to hotel guests
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to hotel standards and recipes
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of bar areas and equipment
- Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws and company policies
- Maintain accurate cash handling and transaction procedures
- Support overall guest satisfaction through attentive and courteous service
- Assist with inventory control, stocking, and minimizing product waste
Specific Responsibilities
- Greet guests promptly and provide excellent customer service
- Take beverage and food orders accurately and efficiently
- Prepare cocktails, mixed drinks, beer, wine, and other beverages according to established recipes and standards
- Verify guest age identification and monitor responsible alcohol consumption
- Operate point-of-sale systems and process guest payments accurately
- Maintain clean and organized bar stations, storage areas, and service areas
- Restock liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and supplies as needed
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management of shortages or supply needs
- Wash and sanitize glassware, bar tools, and equipment
- Follow proper opening and closing procedures for the bar area
- Assist servers and other staff members during busy periods
- Maintain knowledge of current drink menus, promotions, and hotel services
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or guest issues to management promptly
- Follow all company safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures
