Job Summary:
The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs used in the manufacturing of precision components. This position works closely with engineering, production, tooling, and quality departments to ensure efficient machining processes, quality standards, and on-time production. The CNC Programmer supports continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining safe and efficient manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs for mills, lathes, routers, and other CNC equipment using CAM software and machine controls.
· Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and specifications to develop machining processes.
· Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, feeds, fixtures, and work holding methods.
· Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to improve quality and efficiency.
· Perform program prove-outs and machine set-up support on the production floor.
· Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams to improve cycle times and reduce scrap.
· Recommend process improvements, tooling upgrades, and machining strategies.
· Ensure all programs and machining processes meet quality and safety standards.
· Maintain organized program files, set up sheets, tooling lists, and process documentation.
· Assist in training machine operators and setup personnel on new programs and processes.
· Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
· Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:Qualifications:
· Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Machining, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
· Minimum of 3-5 years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Proficiency with CAM software and CNC machine controls.
· Strong understanding of G-Code, tooling, machining practices, and manufacturing processes.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
· Experience with set up and operation of CNC machining centers and/or turning centers preferred.
· Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
· Proficient computer skills including MS Office and ERP/MRP systems preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, metal chips, oils, and coolants.
· Ability to safety operate machinery and equipment. 30
