Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Data Architect in the United States.
This role sits at the center of a high-scale data organization, responsible for shaping the next generation of a modern, multi-tenant data platform that powers engineering intelligence and product insights. You will design and evolve core data architecture, ensuring systems are efficient, secure, and highly automated across complex distributed environments. The position blends deep architectural ownership with hands-on engineering, focusing on scalable data models, orchestration systems, and governance frameworks. You will also play a key role in improving observability, cost attribution, and data reliability across the entire pipeline ecosystem. Working closely with engineering, DevOps, and product teams, you will influence how data is structured, accessed, and leveraged to drive strategic decisions. This is a highly impactful role for someone who thrives in solving large-scale data challenges in fast-moving, product-driven environments.
- Lead the design and evolution of next-generation data architecture, refactoring existing pipelines into scalable, efficient, and maintainable models, including modern patterns such as layered or unified semantic architectures.
- Build and automate data governance frameworks, ensuring strict environment isolation, secure data handling, and prevention of cross-environment data leakage or misconfiguration.
- Drive orchestration and compute optimization efforts by modernizing workflows, improving performance, and reducing bottlenecks across distributed data processing systems.
- Design secure integration layers and backend-for-frontend patterns to ensure efficient, cached, and scalable data access for application teams and product services.
- Implement advanced data observability and FinOps capabilities, including granular cost attribution, data quality monitoring, and usage tracking across tenants and systems.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, DevOps, and product teams to align data infrastructure with business needs and ensure strong documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Extensive experience in data engineering or data architecture roles, including deep hands-on expertise with Python, advanced SQL, and modern data stack tooling.
- Strong background with orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect, along with experience in data validation and quality systems.
- Proven experience working with large-scale cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery, including governance and catalog management.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles and automation-first thinking for managing data systems and environments.
- Experience designing scalable, multi-tenant data systems with strong focus on reliability, performance, and observability.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams and mentor engineers effectively.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance ideal architecture with practical business and delivery constraints.
- Competitive compensation package including base salary and equity
- Remote-first work environment within the United States
- Opportunity to work on large-scale, high-impact data systems in a fast-growing engineering-focused organization
- Exposure to modern data stack technologies and advanced architectural challenges
- Collaborative, high-performing engineering culture with strong ownership and autonomy
- Opportunities for professional growth, technical leadership, and cross-functional influence
- Flexible work approach supporting work-life balance
