We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.TeraWave is seeking an experienced Satellite Electrical Test Lead to develop, lead, and execute the end-to-end electrical test strategy for a constellation of 5,408 satellites designed to deliver enterprise-grade connectivity anywhere on Earth. This role owns the full electrical test lifecycle — from requirements derivation and test procedure development to bench-level verification, vehicle-level campaigns, and pre-launch sign-off — and is responsible for building a scalable, production-ready test capability that keeps pace with an aggressive satellite manufacturing rate. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with flight hardware electrical test, a systems-level understanding of avionics and RF verification, and the leadership skills to drive cross-functional teams with precision and urgency on the production floor.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain the vehicle electrical test strategy, test plan, and verification cross-reference matrix.
- Derive electrical test requirements from system specifications, ICD’s and safety requirements
- Coordinate cross functionally to define interface test requirements
- Own test procedure development, review, and approval workflows from initial draft through qualification and acceptance.
- Lead bench-level, vehicle level and pre-launch electrical test campaigns including power-on, functional verification, end to end harness continuity and EMI/EMC testing
- Manage electrical test scheduling and resource allocation across concurrent campaigns and multiple vehicle build flows
- Lead anomaly investigation and resolution for electrical test discrepancies; drive root cause analysis and corrective action through closure
- Lead a team of electrical test engineers and technicians
- Partner with manufacturing and production engineering early in the design cycle to ensure test infrastructures integrates seamlessly with production flow, tooling, and vehicle build sequence.
- Identify and drive test automation, instrumentation, and data acquisition infrastructure to reduce overall cycle time.
- Design electrical test and support equipment with production scalability in mind, ensuring test architectures support repeatable, high-throughput execution across multiple vehicles.
- Design electrical test interfaces for producibility, including standardized GSE connectors, modular test racks, etc., to support rate increases without redesign.
- Drive a production mindset into the electrical test program; track unit-to-unit test time, first pass yield, anomaly rate, as indicators of production readiness.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
- 8+ years of experience electrical test, avionics integration and test, or vehicle electrical systems verification
- Demonstrated experience leading electrical test campaigns with flight hardware
- Hands on experience with electrical test equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators, data acquisition systems, etc.
- Hands on experience with RF test equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, attenuators, etc.
- Experience in specifying and building out electrical ground support equipment
- Experience developing and executing test procedures from system-level specification and ICD’s
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and coordinate across disciplines under schedule pressure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
- Experience with launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other highly integrated electrical systems
- Background in electrical test planning
- Experience integrating with GPS/GNSS simulators and assessing RF link performance in a test environment
- Experience with automated test framework and scripting for electrical test sequencing and data collection
- Experience scaling an electrical test program from development to production
- Background in Design for Testability (DFT) principles and participated in design reviews as a test team representative
- Previous lead or management experience in a test or integration organization
