This leadership role is responsible for building and scaling a high-performing accounting function that ensures financial integrity, operational efficiency, and strong governance across a fast-evolving organization. You will oversee end-to-end accounting operations including close processes, treasury, tax, audit, and compliance, while driving continuous improvement and automation across finance systems. The role plays a critical part in enabling accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial reporting that supports strategic decision-making and sustainable growth. You will partner closely with FP&A, payroll, revenue finance, and external advisors to strengthen financial operations and ensure alignment across the business. In addition to technical ownership, you will lead and develop a small accounting team, fostering accountability and excellence. This is a highly impactful role for an execution-oriented finance leader who thrives in scaling environments and enjoys improving systems, processes, and controls.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the full monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and financial reporting packages to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and chart of accounts governance to support scalable financial operations.
  • Oversee accounts payable, procurement, vendor payments, contractor processing, cash management, bank reconciliations, and treasury operations including cash forecasting.
  • Manage banking relationships, fraud prevention processes, and financial controls to ensure strong governance and risk mitigation.
  • Lead external audit coordination and manage tax compliance activities, including sales and use tax and coordination with external advisors.
  • Own and optimize accounting systems, workflows, integrations, and documentation to improve efficiency, data integrity, and scalability.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance accuracy, speed, and operational effectiveness.
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, payroll, revenue finance, and business leaders to support forecasting, reporting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of month-end close, audits, tax, treasury, and financial operations in scaling organizations.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, balance sheet management, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proven experience managing accounting operations in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and finance automation tools; Sage Intacct experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience leading audits and managing relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax, state filings, and compliance workflows.
  • Strong analytical and process improvement skills, with experience leveraging systems, automation, and AI to optimize finance operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across finance and business functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing and developing accounting team members.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of $145,000–$185,000 (location-dependent)
  • Remote-first flexibility within the United States
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Generous PTO policy and paid holidays
  • Paid parental leave and family-forming benefits
  • Mental health days and emotional wellness support resources
  • Monthly work-from-home stipend
  • Annual learning and development budget
  • Wellness programs, telehealth services, and employee assistance resources
  • Inclusive, flexible, and supportive work culture with strong focus on work-life balance.
