This role is focused on producing clear, accurate, and timely non-partisan analysis of legislation considered by the U.S. House of Representatives. You will track bills moving through Congress and translate complex legislative text into accessible summaries that explain provisions, intent, and policy implications. The position plays a key role in helping subscribers and stakeholders understand fast-moving developments on Capitol Hill. You will work within an editorial environment where precision, clarity, and speed are essential. The role requires close coordination with peers to align coverage with the House schedule and ensure timely publication under tight deadlines. This is a fast-paced, detail-driven position that blends policy analysis, writing, and real-time legislative monitoring.

Accountabilities:
  • Summarize and analyze legislation scheduled for consideration in the U.S. House of Representatives, translating complex legal and policy language into clear, plain-English reporting.
  • Research and synthesize bill provisions, legislative intent, background context, and policy implications for a broad professional audience.
  • Produce non-partisan, objective legislative summaries covering both supportive and opposing arguments on controversial measures.
  • Monitor congressional activity and develop subject-matter expertise across assigned policy areas, staying current on legislative and political developments.
  • Write and update multiple publications under strict deadlines while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and editorial quality.
  • Collaborate with other analysts and editors to coordinate coverage and maintain alignment with the House legislative calendar.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of congressional procedures, legislative processes, and federal policy frameworks.
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills with the ability to distill complex legislative and policy information into concise summaries.
  • Familiarity with the U.S. legislative process, including congressional procedures, committee reports, and bill tracking.
  • Experience working with government documents, legal texts, or policy analysis, with the ability to interpret statutes and legislative language.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while working under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, objective, and non-partisan content.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with editors and fellow analysts in a team environment.
  • Prior experience in public policy, political reporting, government affairs, or legislative analysis is highly valued.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended or irregular hours based on congressional schedules.
