Job Description
The Cook provides assistance in the daily preparation and delivery of meals and beverages for residents. Cooperative work is an expectation of the job and includes the ability to communicate changes in resident behavior and food intake to the CNA and Charge Nurse, Cooks are responsible for ensuring foods on menu are available through weekly orders to US Foods, local supermarket runs. Cooks ensure that food is defrosted for the following day's menu before leaving their shift by placing meats in the refrigerator.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrates ability to read, write and communicate in English at a level necessary to accomplish work assignments.
2. Possess the ability to work in a cooperative manner with others.
3. Must have knowledge and some experience in food preparation, cooking and calculating quantities of food needed.
4. Demonstrates negative criminal background and drug screen.
5. Demonstrates normal physical exam and reference review.
6. Must be able to lift a minimum of (50) fifty pounds.
7. Possesses capability to work alternating shift assignments.
8. Completes and maintains infection control training through Learn 2 Serve.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepare or direct preparation of food indicated on menu using recipes provided by US FoodS.
2. Estimate food requirements and control serving portions, eliminating waste or leftovers.
3. Document food temperatures each meal.
4. Prepare food so it is palatable and appetizing in appearance.
5. Serve meals to residents according to dietary orders: regular, mechanical soft, puree.
6. Responsible for meeting special diet needs as required.
7. Ensure snacks are prepared three times each day for residents.
8. Instruct, assist and supervise tray aides.
9. Assist in organizing food delivery and dating of products.
10.Ensure standard precautions and sanitation practices are strictly followed.
11.Wash pots and pans following meal preparation.
12.Attend all orientation and in-service meetings as required.
13.Assist others with lifting as needed or requested.
14.Comply with resident's rights, promote positive relationships with residents, families and visitors, and present a professional appearance and attitude.
15.Report all incidents and accidents immediately to your Supervisor.
16.Comply with assigned cleaning of the dietary department each shift.
17.Promptly report any hazardous conditions or equipment to your Supervisor.
18.Any other duties assigned to you by your Supervisor.
