Job Description
Firehawk Aerospace is a leading propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company located in Addison, TX. Our innovative approach empowers us to design and manufacture cutting-edge solid and hybrid rocket motors and engines. We aim to push the boundaries of propulsion technology to serve both commercial and defense sectors.
This is a full-time, remote position based in the Washington, D.C. area, with occasional travel potentially required.
Position Details:
Firehawk Aerospace is revolutionizing the defense supply chain with our 3D printed rockets, missiles, and propulsion systems, rapidly transitioning from R&D to full-scale production. As we enter our next phase of growth, we are elevating our marketing leadership and seeking a strategic, operationally minded Chief Marketing Officer to join our executive team.
As CMO, you will own the full marketing lifecycle - from defining strategy to driving execution across brand, demand generation, communications, and events. You will articulate Firehawk's unique value proposition across customer, government, investor, and public audiences, sharpen our positioning in a rapidly evolving defense and aerospace market, and build a high-performing marketing function that scales with our business. This is a highly cross-functional leadership role, working closely with Sales/Business Development, Product, Engineering, and Finance to align on company-wide priorities and vision - all in service of our mission to disrupt the defense supply chain.
Responsibilities
•Craft, articulate, and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with Firehawk's growth objectives and elevates our position as the leader in disruptive aerospace technology.
•Own all results from the marketing department, ensuring accountability for the effectiveness, efficiency, and business impact of all marketing initiatives.
•Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to executive leadership and the Board, translating technical breakthroughs and program milestones into compelling narratives that resonate internally and externally.
•Work closely with the C-suite and business development leaders on overall go-to-market strategy and planning, including market segmentation, positioning, headcount planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
•Establish Firehawk as a recognized industry thought leader through innovative media, content, and social strategies that generate public conversation and an engaged following.
•Lead proactive and reactive media relations, crafting high-impact press releases, executive messaging, thought leadership articles, and crisis communications to ensure brand consistency and a strong public presence.
•Oversee enterprise-wide internal communications to ensure alignment across departments, supporting company-wide initiatives with clear, motivating messaging.
•Oversee the creation and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns—including digital marketing, SEO/SEM, social media, email, and web experience—designed to penetrate target markets deeply and drive measurable business outcomes.
•Develop and lead event and event marketing strategies that enhance brand visibility, foster connections with key stakeholders, and represent Firehawk at key industry conferences and public engagements.
•Develop and control the marketing budget, ensuring investments maximize ROI and meet financial targets.
•Establish robust analytics frameworks to measure and optimize the performance of all marketing initiatives, regularly reporting to executive leadership on pipeline impact, engagement, and other key metrics.
•Partner with business development and engineering teams to build out and optimize the marketing tech stack (analytics, marketing automation, CRM, etc.).
•Attract, inspire, develop, and retain top-tier marketing talent, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing team.
Basic Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
•10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or public affairs, including a senior leadership position with a proven track record in high-growth, technology-driven, or defense/aerospace environments.
•Proven track record of building and scaling marketing functions from the ground up while driving significant business growth.
•Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with experience developing executive-level communications and compelling brand content.
•Demonstrated success creating and executing integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, and traditional channels.
•Strong analytical mindset with expertise in marketing automation, attribution, and analytics frameworks, paired with a test-measure-learn approach to continuous improvement.
•Experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs, ideally including long sales cycles and government/enterprise customers.
•Proven ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
•Experience partnering with executive leadership and external agencies to drive brand strategy and market engagement.
