Job Description
Working closely with the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Senior Manager plays a key role in advancing the communications, fundraising, and engagement objectives. The successful candidate is an exceptional writer and storyteller who can independently research and synthesize information, develop persuasive donor-facing materials, and create impactful communications that resonate with a variety of audiences.
Strategic Communications Alignment
Lead communication strategies aligned with fundraising priorities and donor engagement goals.
Serve as the brand steward, maintaining standards and messaging frameworks across all touchpoints.
Monitor industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation in donor acquisition and retention.
- Create and own a strategic content calendar that aligns messaging across departments, ensuring a premium baseline of written work.
- Serve as the final editorial eye and brand steward, ensuring an authentic, human, and elite standard of messaging across all print and corporate collateral.
- Craft compelling, cohesive stories focusing entirely on narrative flow, messaging structure, and audience impact.
Develop high-impact donor proposals, cases for support, and customized fundraising materials.
Synthesize information from clinicians and researchers to create meaningful impact stories.
Oversee the editorial calendar to ensure consistent voice and storytelling across all digital and print channels.
- Guide the visual execution of your written content, acting as the bridge between raw copy (proposals, two-pagers) and final designed assets.
- Actively draft media releases and pitch compelling stories to major media outlets to elevate the foundation's public profile.
- Identify and build relationships with media influencers and digital content creators to maximize event marketing moments and revenue-generating campaigns.
Draft media releases, speaking notes, and executive communications for leadership and partners.
Manage external agencies and creative vendors, ensuring quality delivery within budget and timelines.
Utilize analytics and AI tools to optimize content performance and audience engagement.
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, public relations, fundraising communications, journalism, or related fields.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills.
- Demonstrated experience developing donor proposals, cases for support, pitch decks, presentations, briefing notes, stewardship materials, and executive communications.
- Strong research, interviewing, and information-gathering skills.
- Proven ability to translate complex information into compelling donor-centred narratives.
- Experience supporting fundraising, donor engagement, stewardship, or philanthropy initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Canva, PowerPoint, website content management systems, email marketing platforms, and digital communications tools.
- Experience managing agencies, freelancers, and external creative partners.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and insights to improve performance.
- Experience in healthcare, philanthropy, fundraising, or nonprofit environments is strongly preferred.
- Portfolio showcasing work samples.
