WAGE & HOUR CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Exempt, Salary
EXPECTED PAY RANGE: $50,000-$60,000 annually
The Human Resources Manager supports Spirit Mountain's year-round and seasonal workforce through recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, payroll support, and organizational initiatives. This position works closely with department leaders and executive leadership to support employees and promote a positive workplace culture.
The successful candidate will be collaborative, organized, and interested in contributing to a dynamic organization with a diverse workforce. The position provides exposure to a broad range of human resources responsibilities, including public-sector HR, labor relations, seasonal workforce management, and employee relations.
EXPECTATIONS:
- Ensure Spirit Mountain remains compliant with employment laws, personnel policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Recruit, retain, and support employees who reflect Spirit Mountain's values and contribute to organizational success.
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees, supervisors, and department leaders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and support recruitment efforts for seasonal and year-round employees, including job postings, applicant communication, outreach efforts, and hiring processes.
- Administer employee onboarding, status changes, and personnel records through the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- Assist with payroll administration, reporting, timekeeping, and related employee communications.
- Coordinate employee benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and communication with benefit providers and brokers.
- Maintain HRIS data and reporting, including onboarding, employee changes, compliance reporting, and manager support.
- Remain current on employment laws, regulations, and human resources practices, particularly those affecting public employers.
- Support labor relations activities, including administration of the collective bargaining agreement, grievance tracking, and participation in labor-management processes as appropriate.
- Maintain and update personnel policies, job descriptions, and employee-related procedures.
- Provide guidance and support to supervisors, managers, and employees regarding workplace issues, employee relations matters, and personnel concerns.
- Coordinate new employee orientation, annual employee training requirements, and maintenance of training records.
- Participate as a member of the leadership team and support organizational initiatives that promote employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
- Assist with seasonal workforce planning and support specialized staffing initiatives, including international student employment programs and other workforce programs as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- One to three years of human resources experience or experience in a related administrative, payroll, recruiting, or employee support role.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Experience using HRIS, payroll, or other employee management systems.
- Proficiency with computers, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing organizational needs.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with supervisors, managers, and employees.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent.
- Experience with HRIS administration and reporting.
- Experience with payroll administration.
- Experience working in a public-sector, municipal, hospitality, tourism, recreation, or seasonal workforce environment.
- Experience with employee relations, labor relations, or collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience supporting seasonal recruitment or workforce planning.
- Experience working with international employee programs or workforce programs.
- Interest in professional growth and long-term development within Human Resources.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the workplace as needed.
- Ability to use computers, office equipment, and standard technology associated with the position.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move office materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
